The Sunshine Coast Sports Institute (SCSI) provides both talents identified and local representative athletes with integrated support and high performance sport services and access to the SmartaSport training system. Athletes participating in the SCSI program will develop their sports specific attributes, receive education on injury management and prevention, nutrition, drugs in sport, sports psychology and much more. They will also be provided with a structured, supervised, progressive exercise programs and most importantly a positive pathway to athletic success.
The SCSI is a place where athletes learn, develop and succeed in an environment similar to an institute of sport. Historically, local athletes have moved to gain access to these services and as a result, the Sunshine Coast has lost a wealth of local talent from the region. The SCSI will allow these talented athletes to train at home in a state-of-the-art facility with highly qualified and experienced staff, the latest training and testing equipment as well as the integral component of an athlete monitoring system used by the state institutes/academies and the AIS.
The SCSI will run out of the exciting new state of the art High-Performance facility, The Sports Hub in Bokarina where athletes will have access to highly qualified sports science and strength and conditioning staff. The Sports Hub invites all local sporting organisations to come and look at the facility once finished and encourages partnerships between these organisations to improve athlete training outcomes, education, and support services.
